Powell Consulting Group (PCG) of Washington, DC, is looking to hire a full-time Senior Systems Engineer to serve as a technical SME in a classified program involving artificial intelligence and assuring data integrity for strategic, operational, and tactical applications.   • Analyzes user requirements, concept of operations documents, and high-level system architectures to develop system requirements specifications.
  • Analyzes system requirements and leads design and development activities.
  • Guides users in formulating requirements, advises alternative approaches and conducts feasibility studies.
  • Provides technical leadership for the integration of requirements, design, and technology. Incorporates new plans, designs, and systems into ongoing operations.
  • Develops technical documentation.
  • Develops system architecture and system design documentation.
  • Guides system development and implementation planning through assessment or preparation of system engineering management plans and system integration and test plans.
  • Interacts with the Government and Prime Contractor regarding Systems Engineering technical considerations and associated problems, issues, or conflicts.
  • Ultimate responsibility for the technical integrity of work performed and deliverables associated with the Systems Engineering area of responsibility.
  • Communicates with other program personnel, government overseers, and senior executives

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in an engineering discipline or related field (Master's preferred)
  • 5 - 15 years of related experience in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Operational Research, or related field
  • At least 5 years of engineering experience working in the defense acquisition community (industry, military, Government civilian, or contract support)
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, prioritization, and organizational skills; proven ability to assess, select, and utilize a variety of methods and tools; strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Vital emotional intelligence and ability to think and adapt quickly to changing requirements, stakeholders, and environment and take action
  • Strong consultative skills with a demonstrated understanding of requirements gathering and deduction of viable courses of action
  • Ability to transform ideas into practical implementation
  • Ability to speak and write in a clear and concise manner
  • Experience in planning and coordination of working group meetings with diverse participants
  • Experience in preparing, coordinating, and presenting briefings
  • Current, active Top-Secret clearance required

 

Desired Qualifications 

  • Master's degree in an engineering discipline or related field
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically/conceptually in the context of DoD acquisition, including familiarity with DoD management and oversight systems and databases
  • Demonstrated experience communicating with senior management/leadership, including presenting analytical results/recommendations in a dynamic, high-pressure environment.
